Smithers Events

A Backroad Challenge with two different routes to choose from:

Tour De Smithers 2025 will have two different routes: ROUTE #1: The Tour De Valley 42 km will remain unchanged from previous years. ROUTE #2 Paradise Lake-Babine Cruise 85km will be an extended version of previous years.

START TIMES

• 8:30 am » Route #2: Paradise Lake - Babine Cruise 85 km
  NEW Extended Route! We are doing a longer course this year on that route and we want to minimalize rider/automobile conflict and cutting down on how long timers have to be at the finish line
• 9:00 am » Route #1: Tour De Valley 42 km 

REGISTER:

• Signup on Zone 4 until Saturday May 31, 7pm
• FEE $30 entry fee per person ($20 for under 16 years) includes refreshments at Babine aid station and snacks and drinks at the finish
• Lots of draw prizes from many of our suppliers
• This year's event will also be a Fundraiser for the BV Velo (new road and gravel cycling club in Smithers)

Route #1: Tour De Valley

• 42 km undulating
• Categories: over 50 M & F, 16-49 M & F, Under 16 M & F

Route #2: NEW Extended Route -Paradise Lake - Babine Cruise

• 85 km gradual climb with long descent and then some more undulating terrain Telkwa Highroad + Snake Road 
• There will be a food/coffee station where Babine Lake road (Burnt Cabin Road) and Old Babine Lake road meet
• Categories: Competitive M & F, Rec M & F, under 16 M & F Rec

Route #2: Route Description

• Neutral from town to Telkwa on Tatlow
• Follow the highway east to Woodmere Rd and climb it to Deception Lake FSR. 
• Follow Deception Lake FSR to Canyon Creek FSR and turn left. 
• Follow Canyon Creek FSR to Babine Lake Rd and turn left. 
• Briefly follow Babine Lake Rd until Old Babine Lake Rd and turn right onto it. 
• Follow Old Babine Lake Rd to Telkwa High Rd, turn right onto Telkwa High Rd. 
• Follow Telkwa High Rd to Snake Rd, turn left on to Snake Rd. 
• Follow Snake to Old Babine. 
• Turn right on Old Babine and follow it to Highway 16.  
• Follow Highway 16 west until 19th Ave. 
• Turn right onto 19th Ave and then a quick left onto Frontage Rd and finish in front of Hoskins Ford.
