Wednesday May 30th, 2018 5:00pm-7:00pm
Smithers Art Gallery - Smithers, BC
With funding from Creative BC and the Province of BC the Smithers District Chamber of Commerce has been developing a Music Strategy and Economic Impact Study of music, events, festivals and businesses. The preliminary strategy will be available for you to hear about, read through and comment on at a Social from 5 to 7 pm, May 30 at the Smithers Art Gallery (just one of many venues where live music is played). Already the document shows there are 33 venues for live music; 80 performers and artists who perform live; 36 music teachers; many music businesses and 4 major festivals that adds to our vibrant and exciting music sector. The workload of the festivals are mainly volunteer based and we will celebrate the good work these volunteers do at the event as well. You’re invited to attend to enjoy the food and the music, along with learning about and contributing to the Music Strategy. Once developed the inventory that has been collected will be used to create an “all things Music” website concentrating on our area (with funding from Northern Development Initiative Trust).
