LakeKeepers Workshop

The Skeena Knowledge Trust (SKT) is a local non-profit based out of Smithers that focuses on providing the tools and systems needed to support informed decisions about wild salmon and their habitats.
In partnership with the BC Lake Stewardship Society, we are hosting a 1.5 day LakeKeepers workshop to provide training and support for lake stewardship, emphasizing water quality monitoring. The BCLSS LakeKeepers 1.5 day training course that provides participants with a greater understanding of lake ecology and health. Human impacts to watersheds and lakes are also covered. This knowledge increases the ability of citizens to steward their lakes, as they are equipped with a better understanding of the watershed and potential land-use impacts. Regionally based LakeKeepers courses also create peer-to-peer learning opportunities through networking and can address issues and concerns specific to the location.
Here are the details:
Saturday, June 6: Classroom Session, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Old Church in Smithers
Sunday, June 7: Field Session, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at Tyhee Lake
Cost: $25
Lunch is included on June 6.
