Smithers Events

Our Come Try events are meant for anyone to come out on the ice and lean about ringette and try it out! We teach basic skills and keep things fun with all kinds of games. It’s for all ages, no experience required. All you need is warm clothes for the ice, some skates and a helmet. You can rent skates at the arena or we have a bin of skates that can be borrowed.

Ringette is a team based, fast paced sport. It is a non-contact game, and some unique rules about ringette include having to pass over the blue line, and goalies can pick up the ring and pass it! With older ages groups, a shot clock is used to time possession- a team can’t have the ring for more than 30 seconds at a time! Ringette is an international sport and in Canada, the National Ringette League is the professional level and there are 13 NRL teams.
