The BV Folk Music Society will hold its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday October 22nd at 6:30pm (meeting starts at 7:00pm) at the Phyllis Davidson Hall (Stage 3 building) on the BV Exhibition Grounds. You can become a member, or renew your membership at BVFMS.org.

We are seeking folks that have an interest in building community through music to stand for board positions, including Secretary and Treasurer. We are also seeking your support as members to elect the group that will carry us through another year of growth and transition. Your presence at this meeting would be very meaningful, and we hope you are able to attend.

The BV Folk Music Society organizes several programs throughout the calendar year, each of which are designed to fulfil our mandate in different ways. The Society level is focused on supporting and empowering the lead coordinators in delivering their programs. We work to provide essential resources to the programs, while ensuring accountability and long-term sustainability. If you are interested in participating in conversations at this level, then we hope that you stand for election.

You may be more interested in joining one of the programs at the coordinator level, which is responsible for operational decision making and event delivery. Although our community members have been very generous by volunteering their time during the events, we are actively seeking folks to join our coordinator team that operates throughout the year. There will be a sign-up sheet at the meeting for you to indicate your interest in becoming a coordinator, but you can also express interest by email to bvfmsinfo@gmail.com.
Finally, I'd like to thank you for participating in this unique music community that the BVFMS is proud to play a part in. The Bulkley Valley has a rich history of music and musicianship that extends to the present day. It requires organizers, musicians, venues, audiences, partners, and folks of all ages to maintain the generational momentum of our musical community.
